Background
I come from a family of reindeer herders. For generations the reindeer have kept us fed and warm in this cold, and sometimes inhospitable, land. I took over my father’s herd in 2010 and since then, my life has revolved around the reindeer. It can be a hard and difficult way of life at times, but the rewards are beyond imagination. Out in the mountains, or by the coast, working and living alongside the herd, extraordinary nature experiences are part of my daily life. I can never imagine living life a different way.
Our reindeer have their pastures on the Varanger peninsula, in Arctic Norway. In the winter they migrate inland, all the way down to the Finnish border. Varanger is my home. I love life here. It is one of the few places in the world where you can truly feel a taste of the wild and being surrounded by nature in every direction. Undisturbed, raw and real. This is the feeling I want to share with you, as my guest.

Ommot Niillas Siida
I named my summer home after my “Addja”, my grandfather, Ommot Niillas.
Ommot Niillas spent his whole life as a reindeer herder. He died a few months after I was born and I never had the chance to meet him, but I know he was a spiritual man and a man of nature.
The cabin lies on the northern mountain plateau of the Varanger Peninsula, in a place called Kongsfjordfjellet. The name means the King’s fjord mountain and the view of the endless, wild nature is truly regal.
The cabin is fully-fitted with running water, power-generated from a generator and solar cells, a washing machine and a dishwasher for comfort. We have beds for five people, split across two bedrooms, and a wonderful sauna located in the outhouse.
